Yes that is generally what I do. So for example this resteraunt had tuna melts, with tuna salad inside them. I just wanteed the tuna inside, without the bread. I figured if they had tuna salad to put inside the sandwhich, then they must have tuna salad. However, there was no tuna salad on the menu, and when I asked the server, that was his response. He said "Yes I have tuna salad, but I chose not to serve it without being in a sandwhich. The problem with this menu item is that the bread is squished into the tuna and then grilled with them flatterning together. I have ordered tuna melts and picked apart the bread and pulled out the tuna, but there are a lot of crumbs (I can't eat bread crumbs) in it and I end up getting very little tuna as it has been fused. Most of the time I just order burgers or sandwhiches without the bread and the servers get really confused, but I explain they can just put the ingredents on a plate, and they are cool with that.
