Wow, this man thought that culturally literate, self-aware, communicative, and honest men were rare enough to be considered unicorns. Okay, I don't date men, but I have many. friends who are men. I know many men who meet all of these qualifications. Call me a a man-hater for saying this, but I have great respect for men and their abilities to be intelligent, self-aware, communicative, and honest. There are many intelligent, introspective, and mature men in the world. For this man to say otherwise, is pure insult to men. Is it just me, or is patriarchy rather demeaning to men? It paints them as incapable children/rapists who can't be introspective, emotionally mature, or even very intelligent, and shouldn't be for some reason.
This is another reason of why as a feminist, I don't hate men, I hate patriarchy, especially when it paints men as unintelligent children who can't manage their emotions or sex drives. No. Men are good people, I've met so many, we need to abandon these cultural ideas that them being mature grown ups is un-manly and not a realistic expectation. It's messed up this man was propagating this toxic masculinity. He should apologize to his damn gender. Especially since he's pretty much saying, "Yes men can be decent people, but none are, and should never have to be." Such thinking is insulting to all the men out there.
