Well written, your article really hit me.

10 years ago, I let go of my christianity and it felt great, but it was very hard.

I'll never forget though, some of the strange things my christian family members said.

"So, you don't believe in God.."

I do believe in God, but Christianity doesn't get to define God for me. Somehow it was assumed I was an atheist.

"So you have problems with God?" No I don't, letting go of christianity doesn't mean me and God are having a fist right.

"Why would you do that (stop being christian)?" followed by deep-hearted attempts to convince me I was wrong.

It's very weird the way many christians think they and their particular church hold all potential spirituality. Guess what, a person can be spiritual, religious, believe in God, or even be christian without you, your church, your pastor, or anything else. So many christians don't seem to get that.
