We have no idea how many people are obese for medical reasons such as mine, or other reasons. I haven’t seen any studies in obesity that account for conditions like lipedema, hypothyroidism, Darcums disease, side effects from life saving medications, genetic causes, or the many other medical conditions that can cause people to be large. It’s believed about 11% of women have lipedema, or is by no means rare. We don’t know all the factors that asses someone’s biology, why people feel they can look at a strangers body and feel entitled and somehow knowledge enough to make judgments about that persons lifestyle, and their personal choices is totally illogical.
And people like me shouldn’t be erased, blamed, and hidden because of our biology, we’ve done nothing wrong and should have to hide. Having body positive models show their body’s helps people like me accepted, not judged or discriminated against. Even if I am the minority, the discrimation I face as a fat woman for no fault of my own is not okay. No else should have to go through this as well. It’s not encouraging obesity to expect to not be judged and discriminated against for a persons body. No one knows what another person had going on medically and judging them for it is wrong.
