Ugh, I remember a friend of mine in high school who liked to wear all black sometimes and her over-controlling father, hated it. I went to school during the Columbine shooting, and she wore black for a week after that, to express grief and solidarity for the families who lost someone there. Her Dad got super angry claiming she was being gothic, which was somehow bad???

I remember pointing out to her Dad that black is considered a very professional color. If I don't know what to wear at work, I tend to wear black (and I work at a school), with little if any color. Or I'll wear Navy, or black with a white shirt and a black sweeter. Black literally goes with all colors, is professional, elegant, and doesn't show a lot of dirt. I'm tired of people assuming everyone wearing it is some sort of deviant. It's very neutral.

Poor Johnny Cash, the man in black, would be very sad to hear his choice of outfit is banned.
