So interesting! I have never heard of this before, it’s seriously not talked about enough. But I think you’re definitely right. In addition to all the examples and logical points you brought up, it just makes sense. Art is born of culture, and if someone is outside the culture, they won’t understand the art. Given with the fact white people are often taught our culture is the norm, we are likely to completely misunderstand something and then judge it. It makes a lot of sense.
