See this is one of the great unique contributions trans people can make to society. I constantly hear men claim that the way men treat us women can’t be that bad and we’re exaggerating. Trans people have the unique position of seeing both sides.
A good friend of mine transitioned to living as a man. He said he got more respect as a gay man walking down the street than he ever did when people thought he was a gorgeous woman. People listened but to his opinions more, and didn’t harass him as much. He did also say he got way fewer matches on dating apps, but was sexually harassed virtually none on the same apps so he was happy with the change. There is sexism in our world, people don’t listen. It’s real though, and trans people are in the unique position to see it and call it out.
Here’s a thought to all the trans phobes who don’t understand the natural variance in gender that is the trans experience. Maybe the world is a better place when there are people who have seen life from both ends of the gender spectrum who have unique experiences and can provide insight that most cis people can’t. Let’s fucking listen to trans people instead of shaming and discriminating. Diversity is strength, diverse points of view provide diverse points of view, which develops wisdom. Let’s fucking listen to trans people instead of pretending they don’t exist and trying to control where they pee and what sports they compete in.
