One of my close friends has autuism. I have often heard people tell me "She doesn't really have autism, look how functional she is, she's lying..."

I myself have quite a few disabilities, but they are invisible. I fear telling people about them, because then my intelligence will be quesitoned. It's pretty messed up that because I have a disability, people assume I am less mentally capable.

Just as you said, being disabeled means there are barriers in place for us. It doesn't make us any less capable. I'm glad you mentioned that in your writing. Yes, these barriers can prevent us from getting essential things and functioning. However, it's not a reflection on us.
