OMG! Growing up I always put Barbie in a lesbian roll, and deep down, I've always believed she is queer. The truth is, we've always known Ken was clearly a fashion accessory (and a FABULOUS gay one at that). I only had Barbies, never a Ken, and her body felt so sexualized...really, who else is worthy of Barbie but another Barbie?!

This became even more clear when as things became more accepting, she broke up with Ken and they ended their arrangement of being the most fashionable couple ever. Barbie is ready to move onto other things, and other bodies. Ken is free now to be the gay hunk he has always been, (I think I saw him on my friend's grinder last week) but they'll always stay friends. They needed each other back in the 80's. Their call to be the most happenin' stylish couple required them to play at the whole heterosexual bit. I'm sure they experimented with each other, but come on, who are we foolin?

Yeah, Barbie is queer AF, and I'm glad she's dropping some hints and subtle innuendo. She certainly knows how to experiment with careers, and she's gotten way more accepting with different body types over the years. Why not?

In all honesty, Barbie is all about little girls exploring their dreams and their possibilities. So if a child enacts her little queer desires out (ahem, me) why the f not?
