My girlfriend is a trans woman. Everytime she calls a doctor or a goes to an appointment she has some variation of the following conversation:
Them: are you pregnant?
Her: No
Them: what is the first day of your last menstrual cycle?
Her: I don’t have periods, I am trans
Them: so you haven’t had a period in a long time, are you sure youre not pregnant?
Her: I don’t have a uterus, how would I be pregnant?
Them: since it’s been a while since you last had a period, let’s give you a urine test just to be sure…
Her: well, if you look at my chart you’ll see I’m on estrogen, which is technically birth control…
Then: well birth control can stop your period so okay that makes sense then…
