I’ve often thought many pop songs, including some of Ms. Swifts songs, have narcissistic lyrics. Music is expressing emotions and often our darkest emotions and thoughts. Often these thoughts contain narcissistic thinking even when someone isn’t a narcissist. Many people have had thoughts or knee jerk feelings that associated with narcissistic behavior, but there’s a big difference between thoughts and behavior. Music is for expressing emotions, even dark illogical ones.

Personally, as a survivor of narcissistic abuse, such lyrics are triggering for me, and then I start to wonder if the artist is narcissistic. However, keep in mind that just because the artist is singing a song, doesn’t mean it’s about her. The song could be about someone else sung from the first person. It could be about a narcissistic urge. There have been times when I haven’t wanted to take responsibility, and had a knee jerk reaction to deny I had any part, then I fessed up and owned my choices. An artist could be writing about that feeling.

I agree the lyrics sound narcissistic. It’s possible she’s singing about narcissism.
Interesting topic to bring up! I love analyzing pop songs.

Swift’s song, Blank Space (is that what’s it’s called? I’m not sure) I always thought sounded like it was from the point of view of a psychopathic woman using partners for the adrenaline rush of mating then messing with their heads. Maybe in part to retaliate against players. IDK.
