It reminds me of how a lot of women who are working as cashiers or customer services get male customers who think they like them. It's literally their job to smile and act kind while ringing you out. But then often these naive guys see a pretty women smiling at them and think she might be into them. Even if it's literally her job! I've seen a lot of tiktok videos posting of cashiers, where the guy won't leave and thinks he can score a date if he just keeps talking to her. She meanwhile is super uncomfortable and is hoping he will take a hint that she's just working, she's not into him.
