She thinks she can say hateful things because she thinks they are “true.”

It’s a fact given her age and your youth, you will probably outlive her. True is true. She’s the bigot acting inappropriately here. You’re just defending yourself here.

Why is it that when a victim of a hate crime says defends themself or says one the mildly rude to an abuser, we judge them for being unkind? The woman was harassing and verbally abusing you, I think being a bit rude back to her is totally called for given the circumstances. Let’s not forget here: you did nothing wrong. Maybe you’re not proud your actions, but let’s keep the focus on her. She was the one abusing you. It’s perfectly sound to stand up to her, and that’s what you did. She should be sued for harassment. Telling someone they should be dead, if that isn’t harassment, I don’t know what is.
