I'm glad you're giving voice to this.

My girlfriend has spent the last decade in electrolysis. She goes each Saturday for five hours back to back. Here it is covered by insurance, but still in copays alone she has paid tens of thousands of dollars. Her genes are such that her facial hair is more dense than most. Also she has very dark hair, and very light skin. So even if it's a perfectly close shave, you can still see the follicle under her skin. Recently her insurance told her they want her to try laser instead. She only gets laser once every six weeks now, not nearly enough, but she's trying it and documenting the results to try make a case that she needs to go back to electrolysis instead.

Needless to say, she has a very impressive tolerance to pain.

One benefit, she is very close friends with her electrolysis, who happens to have a lot of trans patients. She has made friends in the office, and it's almost sort of a little community.

Trans-sisters getting electrocuted bzzzzzzzz.
