I will always be mystified why jk Rawling is even listened to on these topics. Jk is a fantasy children’s author, she knows about as much about trans folk as hitler knew about iPhones. If I wanted to learn about how to write an engaging book with plot twists, a complex casts of characters, engaging story lines, interesting names, I’d definitely hear her thoughts. Gender? No thanks. She’s not a gender specialists; she’s a traumatized woman who has a self-protect trauma response around anyone who ever had a penis, and she herself was pressured to keep her gender a secret. She’s operating on fear, trauma and isn’t capable of empathy or reason in this state.
I know she has lots of fans, but her voice about the trans population is not one worth listening to. I believe once mentioned being assaulted, by someone who owned a penis. Assault victims dont do anyone favors by having empathy for their attackers, they need to separate themselves from that. Sadly she has lumped all males into potential rapists, including trans women. She’s not in a state to differentiate trans women from men and combined with protective mode, she can’t be reasoned with here.
Henry Ford was good at making cars, but he was a racist antisemite who thought hitler was doing gods work. Somehow, I’ve met many Jewish people who drove fords…we mostly just tuned him out. He clearly knew nothing about Jewish people except how to hate them. JK Rawling has lots of fans, but her opinions on gender are ignorant, phobic, and simply not worth hearing or listening to.
