I totally agree and am glad you wrote this. I’ve realized that what I am honestly attracted to, is not what I’m suppose to be attracted to. My girlfriend recently said the same thing to me and we laughed about how there’s all these rules that says what and who we should like. Truth is, my heart wants what it wants, and it doesn’t really want a certain size, shape, ect. But when I find someone I like, I know it, and am happy. Lots of people have “preferences” but I’ve come to realize it’s all a bunch of influence from society and the media to sell us what we should want so we can buy stuff. Hate fat love thin: Spend money on this food plan so others will find you attractive and love you. Age is ugly, buy this expensive face cream. Buy makeup, it’s self love! Love your self, be beautiful so others will live you!

I’ve been with partners that saw me as some sort of status symbol because I had more “dating capitol” than them and I’ve had partners that thought they were doing me a favor. Screw it all. I just want to love and be loved back and these rules are all crap. It’s not a contest, it’s just my heart, and it’s job is to love, not follow orders.
