I think this quote shows that men have been raised that one’s self worth is in acquiring a partner. It shows a man centered POV where women find their worth in being wanted by a man. Which thanks to feminism, is no longer true.
However I believe this toxic thinking rams it’s head into men, who think that not having a partner or being rejected is a personal insult to their self worth. I’ve hear men say that not having a partner then implies that they are failures. This leads to nice guy phenomena, where they did everything right, so why doesn’t she like him? I hope romantically frustrated men learn they have inherit value without a partner, and rejection isn’t personal, it’s just a preference.
