I plan on doing something similar. I’m divorced, and during the process I just wasn’t ready to let go of my married name. Last winter I gave birth to my daughter. I’ll be damed if she has my ex husbands name. So I gave her my maiden name- now I’m working on changing mine back to match hers. My partner and I talking about getting married. She’s on our daughter ‘a birth certificate as a parent. She says when we get married she wants to have our daughters name as well. I’m seeing this not as going back to my old name, we don’t go back in time, but rather I’m growing into a new person, a mother, and taking a new name for it. Really my daughter is what’s important here.
