I like this post!
I knew for sure I didn’t want the natural childbirth thing. It all sounded totally crazy to me. I know many women who are into it, and good for them. I agree that women should have choices. However, it’s weird how it’s presented in society, like somehow healthier or earthier, etc. I’m generally considered quite the hippy, but I knew a natural birth was not for me. It’s literally like having surgery, on your genitalia, without any anesthesia. But everyone says that’s not the part that hurts because you’re such awful pain 12-72 hours before hand you just don’t care anymore. Nope, not for me.
I knew I wanted an epidural.
I developed some pretty serious complications, preeclampsia, which is knew was likely because it ran in my family. I’m glad it was all done at the hospital, who were able to treat me for all of this. To top it off, my baby decided to roll over in the middle of labor, stick her foot out and kicked out the umbilical chord out of me!This was very dangerous and needed immediate intervention. Luckily we were steps away from the emergency cesarean room, which saved her life. That was what was safest for us. I will never be ashamed that she was a cesarean, it saved her life, but I be seen weird posts from moms about how cesareans are the easy way out and how they should be avoided. Nope! Loved mine! I got nothing against them.
