I have literally thought about this exact same concept since I was about 21. It made total sense. Since women can have babies, and all we need is sperm, that men fear this and seek to control. Also, it should be mentioned, we decide which sperm gets passed on, so in some ways we chose procreation. I think that’s a big part of why monogamy and misogyny were invented, so a man could have control over a woman to ensure his genes would be passed on by her. That’s where we get the concept women should only be with one man but it’s “natural” for men to be with the multiple women or men enjoy sex and are horny but women don’t and shouldn’t least they enjoy sex and cheat, or even that women are property because a man bought her and she is his vassal for procreation and not an autonomous human. It all makes sense now.
I’m currently pregnant via sperm donation and I can’t help but think about all of this.
