Great topic! What you are writing about needs to be talked about.
So often men’s emotions, mental health, and basic humanity is glossed over and ignored. I am a feminist, and I’ve long felt acting like our society ignoring or assuming men are fine because they are big and strong is toxic and misogynistic. Misogyny may put men on the top, but it still hurts them by pushing them into tiny little boxes and denying their humanity. Men are human beings with emotions, trauma and they need help too. The belief that women are more emotional than men (and thus should be ignored or are crazy-hysterical) is sexists and false. Believing men are stronger than women and don’t have emotions, seek out/need help is the same toxic belief, just the other side of the coin. It’s a harmful belief in both sides. Here are some truth about men that everyone ignores.
1) men have feelings and carry emotional weight and should be allowed space for their emotions. They are just as capable as emotional intelligence as women.
2) men get rapped. They are less likely to report, even more likely to be disbelieved if shamed for it. Men can get rapped by women and other men (and non binary people too).
3) men can be in and many are in abusive relationships where they are the victim and the abuser can be a woman, another man, or a person of any gender. Being a man does not make them immune to abuse.

4) men are capable of controlling their sexuality and urges. Yes, testosterone increase libido, but men still have the ability to ask for consent and care for themselves and their sex drives. Being a man does not mean being a rapist. Many men live their entire lives only engaging in fully consensual sex.

5) abusers, rapists, stalkers come in all genders and men should be just as entitled to protection against the above things as women are. Women aren’t harassed because they less than, this happens to men too.

6) men can be and many are great parents who connect with their children emotionally and can teach them emotional intelligence.
