Great article! I think this a great concept.

When I graduated and entered the world work, I didn't like thinking of sexism. I knew on a theoretical level it existed, but felt if I just worked hard and had enough skills it wouldn't hold me back.

I'll never forget the time I had been working at a company for 2 years, and had excellent reviews and was turned down for a promotion. The guy who got the promotion had been working there for 3 months, had one review and spent all the meetings on his phone ignoring everyone, while I was totally engaged. It was just assumed he would be more competent than me.

When I brought to my hiring manager that they guy just sits in meetings on his phone doing nothing, and why did they want that in a leaderships role, it was explained to me that the guy was just bored during meetings and was using tool to help him focused Of course when I showed up, participated in meeting, and took the notes that were later shared around, I still needed to work on being involved more. That guy lasted for 6 months then quit. I stayed there for another year, got depressed that I couldn't make the changes I wanted to at the company, and left to go work on something else. Soon after the company almost went after-they survived though! Good for them.
