Great article! 10 years ago I remember telling my friends I didn’t like being called Caucasian, rather I should be called European American. The fact that there is a rule everyone else has to follow, but not white people, has got to have its roots in racism. African American, Asian American, Mexican American, etc, but somehow I’m not, I’m special, I’m Caucasian, because I’m white, and thus above all this _ American stuff.
I liked Karen when it first came out, I’ve seen some really annoying, privileged women who do or say awful stuff and think they can get away with it, but I agree, it’s ballooned and now anytime someone doesn’t like a white woman they just call her that. The other day I was over charged for groceries and was afraid of saying something to the cashier because I didn’t want to look like a Karen. My sister got her cut recently and made a point of asking for the stylist to make sure her haircut wasn’t to Karen.
