As he got older, he just sort of gave up on life. He didn’t want to move into a bigger place like I did. He stopped caring. I guess you could say he got very depressed. He started smoking pot way more than any healthy person should. He gave up on going anywhere for vacations, having any sort of change ever. He stopped taking his antipsychotic medication and had a complete breakdown, without any desire to get better. He stopped working and has pretty much devoted his life to smoking weed. He even stopped going to the store to buy food.

At first I just thought he was getting old and tired, but now I realize drug addiction and mental illness just became to much for him and he gave up. I’m not sure if it’s related to his age, but at the point I was still in my thirties and still enjoyed working, going places, having friends and wanted to have a life.
I divorced him after he lied about taking his meds and became abusive while being psychotic. He knew not taking his meds was a deal breaker. But the 19 years with him was great, I wouldn’t take it back.
