A few months ago on medium I read a comment from a woman who argued that she saw no evidence of trans people being oppressed. But she did feel that trans women were oppressive because they "pressured others into dating them." I think she read an article somewhere that it's transphobic to not date someone purely because they're trans and ran with it.

I responded by saying that trans people are infact oppressed, and one example of this is murder. Every year trans people are murdered for being trans, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_killed_for_being_transgender

and in many places it is even legal to murder a trans person under the gay panic defense.

She then responded by asking if this was a list of people who were murdered, who happened to be trans, which it's not, that is another list. This is the list where the motive to kill was the victim being trans.

Which is more oppressive, sometimes being censored on twitter, or knowing you could be murdered and it might even be legal because of who you are? I would take being censored on twitter anyway over murder risk.
